What comes to mind when you think of menopause? Unease, apprehension, curiosity?
For the longest time, menopause and anything related to it were shrouded in secret and let’s admit, shame too, because for many women this stage of life was (is) equivalent to aging. Nothing wrong with either (my main thesis, really, on this site!) but that’s now what society at large thought, and some people still do… Which is that aging and in the case of women, menopause, is where things start unraveling, and not in a good way.
Ah, but that’s a rather pessimistic view, which is not ideal. Nor is baseless positivity, which is the other extreme end of the spectrum. Both can impact the way people feel, which can further impact the choices they make, nutrition and lifestyle.
Let’s find the sweet spot (zone), somewhere in the middle. That’s where evidence-based information lives and evolves. Yes, ‘evolves’ as in ‘changes’, which is what science ultimately means: new research reveals new things, which helps our knowledge on the subject deepen which is how we learn to do better.
That is what you’ll find on this website, when it comes to menopause:
- Evidence-based information, peppered with ‘it may’, and ‘as far as we know’.
- Recommendations in line with the latest statements and guidelines issued by the regulatory bodies such as The Menopause Society (previously known as North American Menopause Society).
- Recommendations from established and objective ObGyn practitioners.
On the other hand, this is what you will not find:
- Arguments for having hormones tested and ‘balanced’ via expensive tests and supplements.
- Trends and protocols that have not been proven scientifically but are popular on social media.
